What is the Woodridge Public Education Foundation?

The Woodridge Public Education Foundation (WPEF) is a not-for-profit corporation that was started in June 1990 through the good efforts of the Woodridge Public Schools District 68 Board of Education. It was formally incorporated on September 6, 1991. Its purpose is to attract private monies to fund and advance special innovative educational projects/programs for the enrichment of Woodridge Public School students that would not normally be supported by tax dollars. A community Board of Directors governs the Foundation's activities. In addition, the District 68 Superintendent of Schools serves as an ex-officio member. A minimum of one board member also sits on the District 68 Board of Education.

How are the Foundation Programs Identified?

The Foundation announces its educational emphasis during the spring of each year, calling for program proposals. The Foundation selects one or more programs for funding that educators have submitted for review and financial support.

The Foundation, in cooperation with representatives from Woodridge School District 68, selects those projects/programs for short term funding that will have the most favorable impact on the District's students and that can be easily incorporated into the District's own curriculum.

How are the Woodridge Public Education Foundation Funds Raised?

Funding for the Woodridge Public Education Foundation has been achieved through private and corporate donations as well as through annual fundraising events. Our two major fundraisers are our annual Golf Outing and the Seven Bridges Season Starters Trail and Road Races.

Other fundraising events have included:

·Chicago Wolves Hockey Game ·Cypress Cove Family Fun Night ·Jewel Shop n' Share ·Skate for Schools ·Used Book Sale ·Skate for Schools ·McDonald's Fundraiser

Is There a Place for You?

While donations are always welcome, we also need your time and ideas as well. We encourage you to become a member of our Board of Directors. New ideas regarding options for fundraising are appreciated.

Perhaps you work for a business that strongly supports education and you could be our contact person with that business.

Please consider joining the other community members who make up our Board of Directors.
