Goodrich promotes citizenship and respect by involving students in several humanitarian projects throughout the year. These projects help students to understand their role as global citizens as they are presented with opportunities to participate in activities that help others.
As a 'salute to the troops', students created and signed a banner for a marine squadron which is presently serving in southern Afghanistan. Our Make a Difference Day project will focus on collecting coins for Heifer International. This organization's goal is to end hunger in developing countries by providing families with livestock and training. During the holiday season, Goodrich students will support local charities by collecting food for the Woodridge Food Pantry and will adopt families who are in need of clothing and gifts. In the spring, students will celebrate Earth Day by participating in activities that address environmental issues which affect our health and sustainability.
Providing these opportunities both locally and abroad helps students to form an understanding and compassion for those who are less fortunate. This attitude carries over to their daily classroom community. Students learn in a supportive environment where they build relationships with both their teachers and peers. Caring is key at Goodrich School!
