School Improvement Plan
-
Goal 1: To increase student learning, staff will continue to refine the implementation of Gradual Release of Responsibility model. The focus is on refining Guided Instruction.
- Questioning - check for understanding
- Prompting - facilitate cognitive & metacognitive processes
- Cueing - shifting students' attention
Goal 2: To increase student learning, Meadowview will implement CHAMPS & STOIC.
- CHAMPS is a framework teachers use to share expectations.
- STOIC is a framework teachers use to determine structures for success, to teach expectations, to observe & monitor student behavior, to interact positively with students and to correct misbehavior fluently.
-
Goal 1: Students need to do the heavy cognitive work. Teachers using prompts, cues and questions help them to do that heavy cognitive work.
Goal 2: Students can meet expectations only when they are explicitly taught them. When a student doesn't know how to read, we teach them. When a student doesn't know how to behave, we teach them.

Student learning and success
Goal 1:
- Students answer questions and deepen their understanding of the content.
- Students find clues to help them answer questions around the room or from their background knowledge.
Goal 2:
- Expectations are clear and students are taught how to meet the expectations.
