District Governance

    The District is governed by a Board consisting of seven (7) members. The Board’s powers and duties include the broad authority to adopt and enforce all necessary policies to manage and govern the schools in accordance with the Illinois School Code.

     

    Official action by Board members must occur at a duly called and legally conducted meeting. “Meeting” is defined as any gathering of the majority of a quorum of Board members (3) for the purpose of discussing District business.

     

    Board members, as individuals, have no authority over school affairs, except as provided by law or as authorized by the Board.

     

    The Board is a policy making body. The Board delegates the administration of policy to the Superintendent. The policies serve as guidelines for discretionary action.
