Our mission

In partnership with family and community, Woodridge School District 68 will provide a comprehensive educational foundation for all children in a safe, caring environment, preparing them to be productive, responsible, and successful members of society.

Our district and community

Headquartered in Woodridge, Illinois, Woodridge School District 68 encompasses 7.25 square miles in DuPage County approximately 30 miles southwest of Chicago’s Loop. Woodridge 68's approximately 425 employees (415 full-time, 10 part-time) serve just over 2,700 students with 84.6% of the school district’s students residing in Woodridge. The remaining students live in parts of Downers Grove (6.3%), Bolingbrook (4.8%), Lisle (4.0%) and Naperville (0.3%).

Seven schools make up the school district. Grades K-6 are housed at six elementary schools: Edgewood, Goodrich, John L. Sipley, Meadowview, William F. Murphy and Willow Creek. Thomas Jefferson Junior High School serves students in grades 7-8. Students then attend Community High School District 99 where approximately two-thirds go to Downers Grove South and one-third go to Downers Grove North. Woodridge 68 also offers a free preschool program for 3-5 year olds living in the school district. Families must complete the preschool screening process in order to be considered for a classroom space, and students with the greatest risk are prioritized following guidelines from the Illinois State Board of Education.

In partnership with families and community, Woodridge 68’s continuing goal is to inspire education and innovation within its students, preparing them to be responsible members of the community and society. Woodridge 68 continues to be a student-focused district that is highly regarded for the competence and character of its students and the excellence of its staff, programs, and learning environment.

Woodridge 68 maintains a position of financial strength with healthy reserves and no debt. The school district has received Financial Recognition, the highest financial rating, from the Illinois State Board of Education for the past 17 years.
