Understanding School Finance
Maintaining the fiscal health of a school district and acting responsibly with taxpayer dollars are core responsibilities for school leaders. Often, the intricacies and mechanisms of Illinois school funding laws and regulations can be confusing and unclear. To provide a general understanding of school finance as it applies to Illinois school districts, the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) has created a 12-page booklet that provides a basic overview of fundamental questions and answers to the laws governing school finance in Illinois and how they impact different districts in different ways.
