Program Guide

The District reserves the right to update and/or modify these procedures at any time. Students may be held responsible for any loss or damage caused by intentional vandalism or negligence concerning district assigned electronic devices.

Student Responsibilities

All Chromebooks owned by Woodridge School District 68 are district property and are provided to students for a period of time as deemed appropriate by District Administration.

Woodridge School District 68 allows students to use District Chromebooks only on school property or at designated school activities. District Chromebooks are to be used as a productivity tool for school-related business, curriculum, research, and communications. Students must act in accordance with all applicable Board of Education policies when using the District’s Chromebook computers, electronic devices, and accessories.

Students will be held personally responsible for repair cost/replacement cost for any loss or damage caused by intentional vandalism or negligence of district-assigned electronic devices.

Students must comply with and agree to the following conditions prior to being issued a Chromebook:

Students must not attempt to install software, hardware or change the system configuration, including network settings on any equipment assigned to the student without prior consent of the Information Technology department.
Students are expected to prevent damage and theft to all District electronic equipment assigned to them. Intentionally removing or picking off keys from the keyboard is considered intentional damage - not accidental - and will result in a $90 keyboard replacement fee.
Students will not be held responsible for manufacturing defects, technical problems, and normal wear and tear resulting from regular school-related use.
Users of Woodridge School District 68 technology have no rights of ownership or expectations of privacy to any data that is, or was, stored on the electronic device, school network, or any school-issued applications.
Students must provide access to any equipment and/or accessories they have been assigned upon the District’s request.

Accidental Damage & Repairs

Chromebooks will be covered under warranty and not insurance. All Lenovo 500e devices and Dell 3100 devices will be covered by accidental damage and/or repairs. The warranty does not cover intentional damage. For lost equipment and/or intentional damage, please see Repair/Placement Costs tab. Fees will be assessed via PowerSchool Parent Portal.

8th Grade Purchase Option

Students entering 8th grade will have the option of purchasing a district-issued Chromebook for a nominal fee of $25.00 during the registration process.

This option must be selected during the registration process for the year that your child will be in 8th grade. Students who do not select the buy-out option during registration will not have the ability to buy out the Chromebook at the end of the year.

Refresh Schedule

kindergarten | use assigned device

Students have a specific Chromebook assigned to them for their kindergarten year. They will receive a new case that will travel with them through grade 4.

grade 1 | issued new device

Students have a Chromebook specifically assigned to them for use through 4th grade. This will be a brand new device. They will continue to use the same case received in kindergarten.

grade 2-4 | use assigned device

Students will continue to use the Chromebook specifically assigned to them in 1st grade. Students who enroll at Woodridge 68 after 1st grade will be assigned a device to use through 4th grade.

grade 5 | issued new device

Students have a Chromebook specifically assigned to them for the rest of their career in Woodridge 68. This will be a brand new device, case, and charger the student will use through 8th grade.

grade 6-8 | use assigned device

Students will continue to use the Chromebook specifically assigned to them in 5th grade. Students who enroll at Woodridge 68 after 5th grade will be assigned a device to use through 8th grade.
