Woodridge 68 students learn at home when school buildings are closed for weather or other emergencies

Illinois School Code (105 ILCS 5/10-20.56) allows for the use of e-learning days in lieu of emergency days. In Woodridge 68, e-learning days are utilized instead of traditional "snow days." This means no adding days at the end of the school year!

During the school year, our schools face the possibility of being closed due to an emergency, extreme cold, or severe storm. The decision about whether to close school buildings in inclement weather is done in consultation with the superintendents from Community High School District 99 and other surrounding feeder districts.

When frigid temperatures are the only concern (no snow, ice, etc.), Woodridge 68 will look to the Watch, Warning, and Advisory Criteria established by the National Weather Service (NWS) Chicago Weather Forecast Office and generally use these designations as follows:

If a decision is made to close school, that information will be communicated as soon as possible. Some important reminders:

  • Schools are open unless you hear from the district otherwise.
  • Do not contact the school for closing information.
