Implement structured student dialogue practices in all classrooms to strengthen cohesive teacher knowledge, resulting in 100% of teachers meaningfully planning for dialogue opportunities collaboratively, and leading to measurable increases in student engagement and individual accountability.

Indicators of success

• At least 90% of teachers consistently implement structured student dialogue strategies, as measured by classroom visits and/or self-reports (fidelity rubrics).
• There is a statistically significant increase in student engagement and individual accountability, as evidenced by improved classroom participation measured by classroom visits and self-reports.
• Teachers demonstrate cohesive teacher knowledge and collaborative dialogue by consistently sharing common practices/strategies during Impact Team meetings, SIP Days, and Monday Meetings.

Implementing structured student dialogue practices within classrooms ensures that each student’s contribution is needed to achieve a shared goal, students’ work is witnessed by someone, participation is approximately equal, and many students are academically engaged in their learning at the same moment. 

Implementing structured student dialogue practices within the classroom promotes students to feel on the same side, that they can not hide, equal status, and be engaged in their learning.

• Teachers will engage in professional development regarding Kagan Cooperative Learning structures
• Teachers will collaborate during Impact Team meetings to plan for structured student dialogue opportunities within each lesson.
• Students will engage in structured dialogue daily.
• Teachers will collaborate and build their cohesive teacher knowledge during weekly Impact team meetings, SIP days, and Monday Meetings.
• Both students and teachers will self-reflect on structured dialogue engagement opportunities.
