School improvement plan

Our Goal: 

Implement five key Cooperative Learning Structures across all grade levels with fidelity, emphasizing accountable talk and active listening, with the goal of moving at least 80% of students currently performing below the 25th percentile into the next higher decile.

Success will be evident when: 
1. The school will reduce the achievement gap in reading between underperforming students (below the 25th percentile) and their peers by at least 10 percent as measured by local benchmark data (iReady) by the end of the 2025-26 school year.
2. Teacher survey responses (Google) will evidence growth in individual comfort
level executing prescribed structures with total fidelity.
3. Significant increase is shown in the area of Goal Consensus on the Collective
Efficacy Survey, with an emphasis on question 3, “Improvement goals are
established and understood by all teaching staff”.
4, At least 80% of teachers consistently implement the five key cooperative learning structures with fidelity, as measured by classroom walkthroughs using a common observation rubric focused on accountable talk and active listening.

By increasing the fidelity of how structures are executed across all classrooms, and insuring and insuring that all staff understand how to execute these structures, the pedagogical approach should benefit all students, including those in the lowest quartile.  When executed correctly, students can't 'hide' from the learning.  

Capacity Building:

• All staff need to know the structures ‘inside and out’ with little to no variance by user
• After school meetings and time available on professional development days

Gradual Implementation:

• Phase 1- (9/29- 10/31)
  • Modeling and Training of Time-Pair-Share, Talking Chips & Numbered Heads Together/Showdown
  • Teachers will take the Collective Efficacy Survey and the Google Form  
• Phase 2- (11/17- 1/31)
  • Modeling and Training of Round Robin/Round Table & Sage & Scribe
  • Individual coaching is provided as identified by the  principal  observations  and walk-throughs 
  • Data review of iReady benchmark to look at progress, celebrations, and next steps 
  • Retake Kagan Survey January  
• Phase 3-  (2/1- May 28)
  • Full Implementation Activities  
  • Retake the Collective Efficacy and Google Survey 
  • SIP team will look at the results to see progress and make adjustments for the following year

Communication Strategy:

• Transparency: Progress and challenges will be shared regularly via staff meetings, Impact team meetings, and visual updates of benchmark data and survey results.
• Feedback Loops: Staff input will be gathered through surveys,  and one-on-one check-ins to guide ongoing adjustments.
• Celebration: Successes, both student and teacher, will be recognized through staff tickets, Smores, and milestone celebrations during SIP meetings
