Woodridge 68 appoints new elementary principal
At the regular meeting held on February 22, 2021, the Woodridge School District 68 Board of Education unanimously appointed Sara Kash as the new Principal of Edgewood Elementary School, effective July 1, 2021. Ms. Kash will take over for retiring principal Tanya Hughes.
“Throughout my career, I've cultivated a strong passion for whole-child growth and creating innovative curriculum that champions student voice,” said Kash. “I am honored to join Woodridge School District 68 and thrilled to be a part of the Edgewood family! I am looking forward to supporting and collaborating with the students, staff, and families of Edgewood School to build upon the foundation of strong relationships, engagement, and success for all.”
Sara joins Woodridge 68 with 15 years of experience in elementary education and comes to us from Orland School District 135, where she has gained administrative-level experience as the assistant principal of Liberty School for the past three years. Prior to her current position she was a teacher at Washington Elementary School in Schiller Park School District 81 where she served as the literacy curriculum leader and as a member of the school leadership team. Sara began her career with Cook County School District 130 as a fourth grade classroom teacher and team leader.
Ms. Kash has a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with ESL approval from National Louis University and a Bachelor of Science in Education from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She also earned a Certificate of Advanced Study in Administration and Supervision from National Louis University.

Her focus on academic, restorative justice, and mindfulness practices will help Edgewood in its continued pursuit of excellence,” says Dr. Patrick Broncato, Woodridge 68 Superintendent of Schools.
Sara lives in Darien with her husband and two young sons.
